Join Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library (BHML) for the Storybook Ball, a fundraising gala in celebration of the Library’s 100th anniversary. Dedicated as a memorial to World War I veterans, and incorporated in 1924 to serve as a free public library, BHML has been delivering literacy and lifelong learning opportunities for one hundred years thanks to support from the towns it serves and annual donations from donors like you.

Hosted by Carousel Music Theater on Saturday, Sept. 28, the Storybook Ball begins with a cocktail hour including ample hors d’oeuvres and the event’s signature cocktail, the French 75. Take your seat for a delicious three-course meal catered by Mine Oyster. Enjoy live music with 4-piece jazz ensemble The Gatsby Gang and an open dance floor for the rest of the evening. Tickets for the gala start at $185. Choose a Veuve Clicquot ticket or table to add some extra sparkle (and bubbles) to your evening! At the height of the Jazz Age, in the middle of the Roaring ‘20s, Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library opened its doors. To honor a century of library service, the Storybook Ball will celebrate the time-honored American novel “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This enduring classic conjures vivid images of splendor and excellence in which we will indulge during this special evening. A nod to our memorial roots, the event's signature cocktail takes its name from the French 75 mm field gun, used in World War I and thought to be the first piece of modern artillery.

The Storybook Ball honorary event chairs are the prolific Geoff and Joan Chatterton, acclaimed Buzz Makarewicz and Mark Osborn, and illustrious Jessica and Jonathan Tindal. Thanks to our event sponsors, all ticket proceeds will go towards the Library’s annual operating fund.
