Lisbon takes down Boothbay
The Lisbon Greyhounds made 13 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter and went on to defeat the host Boothbay Region Seahawks, 76-63, in Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball action Monday night at Porter Memorial Gymnasium.
Boothbay (1-3) had cut into Lisbon’s double-digit lead early in the fourth quarter, trailing by only eight, 62-54, with just over six minutes to play. But the Greyhounds were patient on offense and drew many fouls down the stretch and iced the game from the free throw line.
Boothbay led at halftime, 35-32.
Tyrese Joseph led Lisbon (2-2) with 22 points, followed by Jonah Douglas with 18. Henry Doyle and Sean Scott each pitched in with 12 apiece. Lisbon made 19 three-pointers in the game.
Kyle Ames led Boothbay with 25 points (four three-pointers), followed by Austin Campbell with nine and Steve Reny with seven.
Boothbay will next host Monmouth on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
