Local man fourth in stock car race
Multi-PASS South race winner Corey Williams of Boothbay Harbor and Huntersville, N.C., took fourth place in the IWK 250 race July 21 at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, behind celebrity guest driver Joey Logano.
A sold-out crowd watched as pro stock veteran John Flemming of Halifax took the checkered flag with Jonathan Hicken finishing second.
Williams was invited by car owner Rollie MacDonald to debut his new Hamke chassis. Crew chief was Andrew Hicken. Besides his fourth place finish, Williams also won his heat.
Williams, with many short track wins to his credit, has made his home in North Carolina for the past few years where he works as a fabricator on vehicles for NASCAR drivers Kasey Kane and Jeff Gordon.
