AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 12, of COVID-19 cases in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 1,477 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,338 confirmed cases and 139 probable cases. 

Across the state, 913 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 65 people have died. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 202.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 34 hospitalized, including 17 in critical care and eight on a ventilator. There are 130 available critical care beds out of 303 total and 228 available ventilators of 314 total and 407 alternative ventilators.

The Maine CDC reports 22,092 negative cases, as of May 6. “Maine CDC will publish negative results once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of negative tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states. 

By sex, 788 females have tested positive in the state and 686 males have tested positive. The sex of three individuals was listed by the Maine CDC as unknown. 

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”
