AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 27, of COVID-19 cases in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 2,137 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,914 confirmed cases and 223 probable cases. 

Across the state, 1,357 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 81 people have died. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 260.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 59 hospitalized, including 25 in critical care and 14 on a ventilator. There are 151 available critical care beds out of 406 total and 232 available ventilators of 315 total and 439 alternative ventilators. 

By sex, 1,109 females have tested positive in the state and 1,027 males have tested positive. One person’s sex is unknown.

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.” 

Each day, the Maine CDC updates its COVID-19 data on its website with the latest coronavirus numbers from across the state. Today’s update came at 12:15 p.m.
