AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 28, of COVID-19 cases in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 2,189 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,951 confirmed cases and 228 probable cases. 

Across the state, 1,402 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 84 people have died. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 264.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 58 hospitalized, including 22 in critical care and 14 on a ventilator. There are 148 available critical care beds out of 408 total and 233 available ventilators of 319 total and 441 alternative ventilators. 

By sex, 1,137 females have tested positive in the state and 1,052 males have tested positive.

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.” 

Each day, the Maine CDC updates its COVID-19 data on its website with the latest coronavirus numbers from across the state. Today’s update came at 11:45 a.m.
