For the first time in more than three decades, comedy legends Monty Python performed live on stage together this year. Monty Python are rightfully regarded as among the world’s finest-ever comedians. Plays Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. and encores Thursday, Aug. 14 at 7.
Life Itself (R, 1 hour 55 minutes)
A documentary film that recounts the inspiring and entertaining life of world-renowned film critic and social commentator Roger Ebert. Closes Thursday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. Presented in partnership with Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty.
100: Head/Heart/Feet (NR) with Q&A
If you thought a 26.2 mile marathon was tough, lace up your running shoes for a journey into the world of ultra-running. Some call them adventure racers, extreme endurance athletes or just plain crazy as they prepare to run a 30-hour, 100-mile race… no stopping, no resting no whining… just running. Plays Thursday, Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. The screening will be following by a Q&A session with the filmmakers and MVHS grad Zak Wieluns, who is featured in the film.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 (PG, 1 hour 42 minutes)
It's been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races, the now inseparable pair discover a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons, and find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Plays Friday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m.. Presented in partnership with Sproul’s Furniture.
BBC Docudrama: Royal Cousins at War (2 hour 2 minutes, free)
At the outbreak of the First World War three cousins reigned over Europe’s greatest powers – Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany and King George V of England. This docudrama looks at the role played by the three monarchs, and their relationships with each other, in the outbreak of war, arguing that it is far greater than historians have traditionally believed. Plays Monday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. This is the second of three free offerings from the theater to commemorate the centenary of WWI.
