Puppet Pals return to library lawn for free show
Puppetry is an ancient form of theater which has been around since the 5th century. It takes on many forms, but they all use inanimate objects to tell a story. Whether it is Kermit the Frog, Pinnochio or Howdy Doody, chances are there is a key memory somewhere in your childhood that was triggered by one of these characters.
We are very excited to announce that Lindsay Aucella will return to the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library with her larger-than-life Puppet Pals to the library lawn again on Friday, Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m. Funny, fast-paced, and interactive, this variety show will delight the young and the young at heart! Children’s Librarian Jen Betts says “Lindsay is an energetic performer that engages audiences of all ages. Her puppets are amazing and captivating! We loved the show last year and were excited to have her back again. This is a must see!
“Lindsay’s performances inspire compassion and creative thinking. Her focus is on topics such as friendship, working together and kindness. The sketches are alive with audience participation and she invites kids to sing along, dance, contribute ideas, call in response, supply props, and more. Over the course of an hour she incorporates a series of stories/ skits and gets to introduce 6-8 puppet pals.”
Lindsay Aucella's comedic animation and timing, high energy, and uncanny knack for silly voices electrifies young crowds (and mastery of gentle crowd control will bring them back!) She believes the visual and interactive nature of puppetry can access the imaginations of even the youngest children. Through thoughtful storytelling she hopes to inspire creative play and pro social behavior. She also believes the experience of shared joy and laughter can strengthen a community!
