Questioning Stover's commitment
Dear Editor:
A recent letter to the editor spoke of Representative Stover's commitment. I have to ask to whom is she committed when in Augusta?
To whom was she committed when she voted to repeal the Municipal Tax Levy Limit, thus allowing towns to raise property taxes without approval of voters? Not the property tax payers of Lincoln County!
To whom was she committed when she voted to repeal the Property Tax Stabilization Program for people over 65? Not our senior residents certainly!
To whom was she committed when she cast the deciding vote to join the National Popular Vote Compact? Perhaps the voters of Los Angeles and NYC or maybe just the Democrat leadership in Washington but certainly not the people of Maine.
To whom is she committed when she supports expensive and damaging offshore wind projects? Certainly not our fishermen and lobstermen (or whales and birds either).
To whom was she committed when she voted for budgets that have given Maine the 4th highest tax burden in the country, >30% property tax increase in Edgecomb, education ranked near the bottom in the country, and one of the lowest labor participation rates in 40 years?
It is time to chart a new course for Maine. I am committed to making life better here. Even before deciding to run, I went to Augusta and successfully got a change to the Permit By Rule law to allow piers to be raised by up to 48" without having to go through the massive permitting process. If I am elected I commit to stand up for the people of this district, not Portland or NYC or DC. I commit to work to reduce your tax burdens, drive costs down, and get government off our backs. We need a change in Augusta, I am part of that change. Find out more at www.hunt4staterep.org.
