Ramblers outlast Seahawks
The top-seeded Winthrop Ramblers caught fire in the fourth quarter and went on to defeat the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks, 56-43, on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
Heading into the final quarter, the Seahawks trailed by one, 35-34, but the Ramblers held Boothbay to eight fourth quarter points while scoring 22 to seal the victory.
“Their pressure was the difference in the end,” said BRHS coach Dan Hallinan.
Logan Baird and Matt Beck each scored 16 points to lead Winthrop, now 8-2.
Top scorer for Boothbay was Matthew Sullivan with 12. Gryffin Kristan added seven points and scoring six points each were Ashton McLellan and Connor Wenners.
Boothbay dropped to 4-8 on the season with the loss.
