Ramblers shut out Seahawks
Maddie Perkins scored four goals and the undefeated Winthrop Ramblers shut out the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 6-0, in a Class C North field hockey game at Perkins Field, Boothbay Region High School on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6.
The Ramblers improved to 13-0 and recorded their ninth shutout of the season. Boothbay dropped to 4-9 and will host the winless (0-13) Telstar Rebels on Tuesday, Oct. 9, in both teams' last regular season game. The Seahawks, before the game, were in eighth place – the last playoff position – in the Heal point standings.
Hannah Duley and Gia Francis scored the other goals for Winthrop. Boothbay, playing with only nine players on the field due to a couple of players missing the make-up game on the holiday weekend, managed only three shots on goal, as opposed to Winthrop’s 13. Boothbay goalie Maddie Barter stopped seven shots.
