Rev. Erika Hewitt at Wilson Chapel July 18

Mon, 07/12/2021 - 8:00am

The Reverend Erika Hewitt will lead the Sunday, July 18 service at Wilson Memorial Chapel on Ocean Point. Tim Hartsfield will serve as organist. The service is at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome! Wilson Memorial Chapel is following Maine general guidelines. Individuals who have not been fully vaccinated should wear a mask. Given the size of the chapel, we cannot assure 6-foot separation for any attendee.

Rev. Erika Hewitt lives in Bath, where her ministry spans two different realms. She serves the Unitarian Universalist Association as Minister of Worship Arts, overseeing liturgical resources for Unitarian Universalist individuals and congregations around the world. In helping to shape and transform her denomination’s worship life, Erika’s recent focus is the necessary and urgent dismantling of systems of oppression.

In addition to her institutional leadership, Erika also has an extensive pastoral ministry as a wedding officiant. At any given moment, she’s mentoring dozens of couples across the country who want their formal commitment to one another expressed in meaningful, spirit-filled ways here in Maine. In this role, Erika also teaches seminarians and new ministers how to create and lead rites of passage.

Erika moved to Maine in 2012 after more than a decade of serving UU congregations in northern and southern California. She discovered a home in Maine’s land and its people, and delights in each new discovery.
