‘Round Town Picks: Week of September 22
If you missed the last Methodist Church pie sale of the season yesterday, never fear: this coming week in the Boothbay region is packed full of fun (with fewer calories).
Celebrate the first official day of fall on Sunday, Sept. 22 by heading to the Owl's Head Transportation Center in Rockland as dump trucks, bulldozers, outriggers, big wheel loaders and road graders are put on display. Finish off the night back home with Brown’s Wharf’s famous turkey dinner, 5:30 p.m. to closing.
With beautiful weather expected, Monday, Sept. 23 would be the perfect day to get out for an early morning bird watching hike around Spruce Point Inn. Call BRLT to sign up (207-633-4818).
School’s in for parents on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when they will tag along with their twelfth graders who attend Boothbay Region High School. Everyone is meeting at 6 p.m. to discuss the impending college application process.
Not ready to go back to school quite yet? You can still launch your imagination into space by attending a Wednesday, Sept. 25 talk with former NASA engineer Ed Polewarczyk at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library (207-633-3112).
The Y is offering active adults the chance to head out to Monhegan Island for the day on Thursday, Sept. 26. The Campbell Creek development has a grand opening cookout the same day, noon to 3 p.m. Stop by and check out the place.
Blues rockers the BoDeans start off the weekend Friday, Sept. 27, at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor. Plus, Harbor Fest begins! There are also several home sports games scheduled, including BRHS football versus Traip at 7 p.m.
Finally, don't miss the Boothbay Charities Classic golf tournament on Saturday, Sept 28. Rub elbows with sports legends and view rare memorabilia at the silent and live auctions — all open to the public.
