‘Round Town Picks: Week of September 29
This week, we start out in September and end in October. Can you believe Halloween is just a month away? Don’t worry, though, you don’t have to wait that long for the next big event.
On Sunday, Sept. 29 get your endorphins pumping by running in the Harbor Fest 5k (starting and ending at the Boothbay Craft Brewery). Or just come out and cheer along the runners, who are raising money for the Dempsey Center. There also looks to be a huge antique auction at Foster’s on Route 1, starting at 9 a.m. Visit www.fostersantiques.com for pictures and listings.
On the water is the perfect place to spend a lazy Monday. Balmy Days is still offering daily trips to Monhegan, harbor tours and more. Once you return to port, head over to Ebb Tide for a scrumptious “Scallop Fry” dinner special for just $15.45.
The first day of October on Tuesday will be a somber one, with the end of St. Andrews emergency department and inpatient beds. But in our effort to move forward, the Boothbay Region Health & Wellness Foundation has organized a vigil to be held at the Boothbay town office at 7 p.m.
Our region is lucky to have two local movie theaters, so stop by for a cinematic break on Wednesday at 2 p.m., with a matinee of Woody Allen’s critically acclaimed movie, “Blue Jasmine” at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta. Need a fun event for kids? Let them compete in the annual FASCAR rally at Boothbay Baptist Church at 6:15 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 3 is one of the last farmer’s markets of the season, so head over to the Boothbay Common for veggies, maple syrup, pet treats, jewelry and more.
Head out to nice dinner on Friday, Oct. 4 at one of the local restaurants with talented musicians who play as you dine. Robinson’s Wharf, Andrews’ Harborside and other usually have live music, so click below to learn more.
On Saturday, Oct. 5 the show Getting Away Together will be finishing up filming its Boothbay region episode, so wave to the camera crew if you see them around.
