Sea Tow to the rescue
Sea Tow rescued a Harry Farmer-built Sea Ray which went aground at Spruce Point, Boothbay Harbor in high winds and high tide on June 8.
Owner/captain Bruce White said that the boat ended up in a crevice in the ledges along the shore.
"We were notified by the boat's caretaker and went to work to salvage it on June 11," said White.
White said the boat was slowly pulled to a high point on a ledge using straps and wooden slats to protect its hull. After about six hours of work by four men, the boat eventually floated on its own as the tide came in, White said.
"Surprisingly, the boat sustained extremely little damage, a few scratches," said White.
One of the pleasant points during the six hours of work, said White, was when nearby homeowner "Nancy Yardley brought us out a plate of brownies!"
