Seahawks compete at Dirigo
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawk wrestling team again went to Dirigo January 18 and wrestled that town’s team, Wells, Monmouth and Wiscasset’s new club wrestling team.
In Boothbay’s first match against Dirigo, the Seahawks lost 72 to 6, with Antonio Maulolo getting the only win.
“The boys did wrestle much better than the score indicates,” Coach Allan Crocker said. “I think we had six winnable matches, but due to wrestlers not making weight and rookie mistakes, we didn’t get the outcome we were looking for.”
Maulolo was also Boothbay's only winner against Wells, pinning his opponent. Forfeits were received by Gabe Purin, Brandon Andrews and Howie Carter and Boothbay lost 54 to 24.
Boothbay defeated Monmouth 36 to 24. Howie Carter, Killian Miller and Antonio Maulolo all wrestled to wins while Nick Labonte, Jude Alamo and Tony Hammond all received forfeits.
