Seahawks defeat Carrabec and Wiscasset in boys tennis
The Boothbay Region High School boys tennis team is off to a good start, winning its first two matches of the 2015 season this week. On Friday at Carrabec, the Seahawks won 4-1 in matches. On Monday at home inside at the YMCA, Boothbay shut out Wiscasset, 5-0 in matches.
"I asked a lot of our number one doubles team today of Reilly Spear and Griffin Kane," said Coach Mark Gorey after the Carrabec match. "They stepped up with Collin Thompson, Duncan Drapeau and Joseph DiMauro away. Showing assertiveness with their volleys, and communicating well point to point, Reilly and Griffin work well together as a team. They continue to improve their technique and consistency. They played a tough, close match, which they learned a lot from.”
Gorey said that Carrabec also had players missing due to school trips and they defaulted the number two doubles match.
