Seahawks defeat Telstar, then drop game to Hall-Dale
Boosted by its first win of the season, 9-6 versus Telstar High School, the Boothbay Region High School baseball team failed to carry momentum into the Wednesday, May 10 contest at home against Hall-Dale High School, losing 7-2.
Coach Josh Garneau said starting pitcher Cameron Crocker had pitched the entire game in Bethel for the win. Garneau said rain-outs were creating havoc with his pitching rotation with successive homes games scheduled to close out the week. “We have to watch the pitch count,” he said.
Hall-Dale’s Alec Byron pitched the entire game, limiting the Seahawks to two hits. The Bulldogs scored in each of four innings with five hits which were assisted by several Seahawk walks and errors.
Grant Giles started the game for BRHS and was relieved by Hunter Crocker and Michael Ripley. Carter Babcock sparked a rally in the sixth inning with a double and later came home to score. Brett Hallowell crossed the plate in the seventh inning with the Seahawks’ second run.
The team was scheduled to have its makeup game with Mt. Abram High School on Thursday, May 11 with Cameron Crocker on the mound.
The Seahawks dropped to 1-4 with the loss. The Bulldogs are now 5-2 on the season.
