Seahawks fall to Raiders, 41-22, as season ends
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks football team’s season came to an end on November 2 at Wales as the Oak Hill Raiders ran to a 41-22 victory in the quarterfinals of the Western Maine Class D football playoffs.
For the second time this season, the Seahawks had a tough time slowing down the running game of the Raiders who quickly put 21points on the board. Kyle Flaherty scored on a six-yard run on the opening drive and after a Boothbay fumble, Alex Mace scored from 10 yards out on the final play of the first quarter.
Jason Maddocks put the Seahawks on the board with his first of two touchdowns on the day as the senior broke off a 79-yard run. Maddocks, who finished with 167 yards on 12 carries, would later score in the second half to cut the Oak Hill lead to 27-16.
Finishing with a 3-6 record, the Seahawks returned to playoff football for the first time since 2007.
