Seahawks, Raiders battle to a 2OT scoreless tie
After 76 minutes of on-field action, the Boothbay Region Seahawks and Oak Hill Raiders put away their gear that provided no goals in Friday’s field hockey game at Perkins Field, BRHS.
The double-overtime contest saw plenty of shots on goal by Oak Hill, but senior tri-captain Jaelyn Crocker made 21 saves, including a couple of instances of getting on the ground and pushing the ball away from the Raiders and away from the goal.
Boothbay also survived Oak Hill’s advantage on penalty corners. The Raiders (4-7-1) had 18 corners to the Seahawks’ five.
Both teams had a couple of open shots during the two eight-minute overtime periods but all went wide of the goal.
The Seahawks (2-8-1) next host Winthrop on Monday at 10 a.m.
