Seahawks soccer starts strong with a 2-0 record
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks varsity girls soccer team defeated the Lisbon Greyhounds 3-2 at home on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Goals were scored by Angie Perkins, Ella Spear and Summer Chamberlin.
Fans were at Clifford Park from both Boothbay and Lisbon, with rousing cheers for each goal made or saved.
This was the Seahawks’ first home game of the season and it continues their winning streak as they won their first away game on Sept. 9 against Dirigo, 6-2. Goals were scored by Reagan Cola, Hannah Cola, and two each by Ella Spear and Angie Perkins.
The Seahawks started their season with a 3-0 scrimmage win against the Hyde Phoenix on Sept. 4.
According to Boothbay coach Ben Powell, a scrimmage is “just a practice game and doesn't actually count toward anything.” Goals were scored by Reagan Cola, Hannah Cola and Evy Case and assisted by Lisa Pawlowski.
The girls play their next home game against Mt. Abram at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept 17. Their next game will be away at Monmouth on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m.
