With only two games left in the regular season, the Boothbay Region High School varsity baseball team couldn't gain traction in the rankings this week. The team took one win and one loss and is now 5-9.

The Seahawks are ninth of 11 in the Class D South Heal point standings, as they have been for several weeks. The top eight teams go to playoffs.

May 24, Boothbay let four errors get the best of it at home as Mountain Valley took a 6-2 victory.   The Seahawks scored once in the first inning and again in the fourth. Sam Markowitz and Maddox Cusumano each had a run. The Falcons scored one run in the third inning, three in the fourth and two in the seventh.

Finn Harkins pitched for Boothbay and threw four strikeouts. He allowed two earned runs and no walks. The Seahawks struck out five times with one earned run and two walks. Mountain Valley had one error.

The game was the final home game of the season. The team’s two seniors, Harkins and Dominick Dow, were recognized for their dedication and support of the program. Both players have been on the baseball team for three seasons.

May 22, Boothbay won 7-1 against Madison with a strong late-game performance at Madison.

The Bulldogs opened the game with their only run in the first inning. The Seahawks answered back in the fifth with three runs, followed by four more in the sixth. Markowitz and Cusumano had two runs each, and Shawn Gamage, Harkins and Liam Jacobs each had one.

Jacobs pitched for Boothbay and threw 10 strikeouts. He allowed two walks and no earned runs. Boothbay struck out 12 times with 12 walks and seven earned runs. Both teams had one error.

The Seahawks’ final games are scheduled against Oak Hill May 28 (rescheduled from May 27) and Hall-Dale on May 29. Both games are away.
