Seahawks win opener at Telstar
Junior Chloe Arsenault scored four goals in Boothbay Region High School field hockey team’s 6-2 season-opening win over Telstar High School in Bethel Wednesday, Aug. 29.
Because of the hot and humid weather, the officials took timeout every 10 minutes during the game, according to BRHS Coach Donna Jordan.
The Seahawks trailed at the half, 2-1, as Addie Kimball scored both Telstar goals before Arsenault scored her first goal of the game, on an assist from senior Riley Sullivan, with six minutes remaining in the half.
Arsenault tied the game with a goal five minutes into the half and senior Lexi Lane scored the eventual winning goal off an assist from Arsenault. Sophomore Maren Whitney scored her first varsity goal on an assist from sophomore Cortney Meader.
Senior Maddy Barter played in goal for Boothbay, recording her first varsity win, and the Rebels’ Perry Morton played well recording 17 saves in the game.
Boothbay is scheduled to host Mountain Valley on Friday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. at Perkins Field, BRHS.
