Spruce Mountain handles Boothbay, 69-43
The Class B South second-ranked Spruce Mountain Phoenix boys basketball team improved to 6-1 with a convincing 69-43 win over the Boothbay Region Seahawks in Jay Tuesday night, Jan. 3.
“We couldn’t match their intensity or physicality,” said Seahawks coach Dan Hallinan. The Seahawks were down 19 points, 39-20, at halftime.
Four Spruce Mountain players scored in double figures: Elie Timler (16) Ian York (15), Lucas Towers (12) and Jace Bessey (11).
Boothbay (3-3, 7th in Class C South) was led by Finn Harkins and Gryffin Kristan with 10 points each.
The Seahawks’ next two games are on the road, at Buckfield (1-4) on Thursday, Jan. 5 and at Oak Hill (1-5) on Saturday, Jan. 7. Their next home game is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 9 against Mt. Abram (4-1).
