Sprucewold
Fall has arrived! We pulled the comforters out of the cupboard and put extra blankets on the foot of the beds. The fireplace is cozy in the evening, the wood pile will keep us supplied as needed. This time of year, you can always tell the cabin dwellers at the grocery store by their perfume of wood smoke!
There are many people to thank for every successful summer season. Jason Denby for his tireless volunteering in Sprucewold, he will be missed, and we wish him well in Vermont; Jane McCarthy for administering our Facebook pages year round; and all the officers and board members who take responsibility for the clubs and associations. We also thank Ernie Labelle and Josh Higgins for the SA Cabin Watch, and all the other watchmen who care for our cabins in the off season; Curt Audin and Randy Lehman for taking over as chairs of Firewise from founders Curt Norrad and Ralph Kimball; John Hughes and Joe Mair for watching over the Crooked Pine Dock, and Tom Thompson and Sandy Young for going above and beyond at the beach. Finally, we thank members who have volunteered for the future to take open positions in the Sprucewold Beach Club, Sprucewold Association, and Linekin Heights Associations: Jean Koenig, Danielle Bazinet, Artie Sullivan, Leigh Pumilia, Carol Ortlip, Mike Mallin, Jody Lorence, Elisa Goldsmith, Jessica Ludwig, Suzie Roche, Rachel Romanowitz, and Pat Thompson. If I’ve missed anyone, please excuse me and thank you for your contributions to another wonderful Sprucewold season.
If you don’t already, please subscribe to the Boothbay Register, either the eEdition or print copy, and help support your local newspaper. Don’t forget the local annual appeals for support that come your way. All the nonprofits in the Boothbay Region enrich our lives and the lives of others.
Looking forward to 2025, see you then!
