St. Dom’s edges Boothbay, 1-0
The St. Dominic Academy Saints defeated the Boothbay Region High School Seahawks, 1-0, in Class C field hockey at Perkins Field, BRHS on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 9.
Kylie Leavitt’s first half goal at the 8:42 mark held up as the Saints improved to 2-2 while Boothbay dropped to 1-2 on the young season.
Boothbay out shot St. Dom’s, 10 to 8, and had its best chance to tie the game with 26 minutes to play when a centering pass from Page Brown to Sydney Meader was skillfully kicked away by the St. Dom’s goalie on Meader’s shot. Boothbay also had two penalty corners and one long hit in the last two minutes but could not score.
Boothbay is scheduled to play at Winthrop on Friday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. and host Dirigo on Monday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.
Boothbay won the junior varsity contest, 2-0, on goals by Riley Sullivan.
