Suzanne Rankin stars as 'Mrs. Mannerly'
Lincoln County Community Theater (LCCT), the theater company in residence at the Lincoln Theater, continues its highly successful “Sundays without Scenery” series with Jefffrey Hatcher's “Mrs. Mannerly.”
This irreverent, yet poignant comedy was inspired by the hilarious memories of a childhood etiquette class. Starring LCCT favorites Suzanne Rankin, Stephen Wallace, Tom Handel and Jennifer True, this witty comedy of manners shows the difference between how we present ourselves and who we really are.
It is 1967 … the Summer of Love. But for five children on the second floor of the YMCA in Steubenville, Ohio it is the Summer of Etiquette as taught by formidable Helen Anderson Kirk, better known as “Mrs. Mannerly.” Ten-year-old Jeffrey is not good at anything but being polite. Obsessed with good manners, he is determined to be the first student ever to achieve a perfect score on the challenging final exam. Mrs. Mannerly has never had a student in her 36 years of etiquette classes achieve that feat. Jeffrey faces off with his classmates as he maneuvers his way toward the top to try to take the grand prize!
“Mrs. Mannerly,” a staged reading directed by John Mulcahy, will be performed Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10/adults, $8/Lincoln Theater members and $5/youth 18 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the box office, at the door, or charged by phone: 207-563-3424.
The Lincoln Theater is located at 2 Theater Street in Damariscotta.
A “Talk Back” with the company will take place immediately following the matinee show. Come and release your inner Letitia Baldrige and Emily Post for a good time and plenty of laughs.
