Taylor Walby named to all-state team
Taylor Walby, a Boothbay Region High School senior, has been selected to the 2014 Maine Field Hockey Association All State Team.
Team member selections are voted on by varsity field hockey coaches across the state. Players earn this recognition through the skills and leadership shown during their season of play.
Walby is BRHS's 2014 most valuable player, a first-team Mountain Valley Conference selection, and a tri-captain of the 2014 team. She is a 2-year United States Field Hockey Association Futures participant and a current member of the Katahdin Field Hockey Club.
"This is a well deserved honor for Taylor and we are all very excited for her," said Seahawk Coach Donna Jordan.
The 2014 All State team members graduating from high school this year are invited to play in the annual McNally All Star Field Hockey Game for charity, which will be played next summer at the Maine Field Hockey Festival.
The 2014 All State Team will be recognized at a luncheon to be held Dec. 7 at the Augusta Civic Center. Players will be presented with certificates and plaques at that time.
