Trevett Column
Wednesday, Oct. 16 will be a very big night at the BICA hall with the annual Halloween potluck taking place. Please bring either a main or side dish, salad or dessert to share along with your beverage of choice. Things will get started at 5:30.
For the Halloween party this year we will be dressing up for Roland. Roland, who recently passed away, served as a BICA president and was most instrumental in getting the current BICA hall built. As many folks know, Roland loved Halloween and would attend in the most amazing costumes. Let’s honor Roland and dress our worst or best. And remember there will amazing prizes.
The Spofford Lane gang did a great job with the September potluck. Tables were very seasonal appearing with vases of fall flowers. There was a good turnout with about 50 folks enjoying the food offerings and interesting conversations. After dinner Paul and Louise ran some Bingo games with Dorinda, Bruce and two-time Allen winning the big candy bar prizes.
Brian came up as the big time winner of the raffle basket which was loaded with honey products and seasonal gourds. Congratulations and enjoy.
The BICA elves have already started planning for the Christmas gift-giving for the island children. In an effort to reduce extra shopping for gifts to fill gaps in donations received, this year the elves have a Christmas tree at the hall with hanging wish tags indicating the age and gender of an island child. Please help yourself to one or more tags (many tags were taken at the September potluck.). The cost of gifts should be limited to $25.00 or less and they may be brought unwrapped but with the wish tag attached to the October and November potlucks. The gifts will then be wrapped at the holiday tea held in early December. If you are leaving the area early, you can drop your gifts at Evelyn’s home. Thank you in advance for helping continue this BICA tradition.
