This week at The Harbor Theatre
Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what's next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife, his friend and his son to launch a food truck.
“Chef” is written directed and stars Favreau with Sofía Vergara, John Leguizamo, Scarlett Johansson, Oliver Platt, Bobby Cannavale, Dustin Hoffman, and Robert Downey, Jr.
“Chef” is rated R (for language). It plays through Thursday, July 3 at 7 p.m.
The theatre presents “Jersey Boys” this weekend. Directed by Clint Eastwood, it's based on the Tony Award-winning musical about the iconic 1960s rock group The Four Seasons.
The film tells the story of four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic 1960s rock group The Four Seasons. The story of their trials and triumphs are accompanied by the songs that influenced a generation: “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Dawn,” “Rag Doll,” “Bye Bye Baby,” “Who Loves You,” and many more.
Frankie Valli, the group's frontman, is one of the producers of this picture that stars John Lloyd Young as Valli, Vincent Piazza as Tommy DeVito, Erich Bergen as Bob Gaudio and Michael Lomenda as Nick Massi.
“Jersey Boys” is rated R. It plays Friday, July 4 through Monday, July 7 at 7 p.m. with two shows on Sunday, July 6 at 3 and 7 p.m.
One of the year's top films at The Harbor Theatre returns for a limited engagement: “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” Tuesday, July 8 through Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. The Wes Anderson movie masterpiece relates the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend.
Wes Anderson's last movie, “Moonrise Kingdom,” was the second highest-grossing film of the year at The Harbor Theatre in 2012, after “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.”
