The defending state champion Winthrop Ramblers improved to 5-1 on the season with a convincing 11-1 win at home against the Boothbay Region Seahawks in Class C field hockey Wednesday afternoon.

Boothbay dropped to 0-4 on the season.

Winthrop got scoring from five players. Madeline Wagner registered a hat trick and an assist. Scoring two goals each were Izzy Folsom, Julia Letourneau, Bella Littler and Lauryn Wood.

Kate Campbell scored Boothbay’s only goal in the second quarter.

Winthrop goalie Madison Weymouth had four saves and Boothbay goalie Cass Amaral had 18.
