Wiscasset beats Boothbay, 53-46
The Wiscasset Wolverines fought back from a 12-point deficit early in the fourth quarter and held Boothbay to zero points in the fourth quarter to take a 53-46 victory at Boothbay Region High School Monday night, Jan. 25.
Leading 46-34 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Seahawks offense stalled and Wiscasset hit 13 of 17 free throws in the final frame to improve to 11-4. Boothbay falls to 10-5 and it was the second time the Seahawks have lost to Wiscasset this season. The Wolverines moved up to fourth place in the Class C South standings while Boothbay dropped to fifth place with three games remaining.
The visitors took their first lead since early in the first quarter, 47-46, with 1:51 to play and junior forward Kevin Lynch hit 8 of 10 from the foul line down the stretch.
Abel Bryer led Boothbay with 12 points, followed by Jacob Leonard with 11 and Kyle Ames with nine.
Ethan James led Wiscasset with 26 points, followed by Brandon Sprague with 12 and Lynch with 10.
