Yacht club dinner dance coming up
What a week on the water last week! There is no doubt that we are a yacht club.
Last week started with a high power racing clinic for the kids taught by three of the world’s top sail coaches. On Thursday and Friday, 97 Opti’s and their youthful skippers graced our shores in the Maine State Opti Championships and the weekend saw the 39th annual Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Regatta which was again the largest regatta on the Gulf of Mane Ocean Racing Circuit this summer.
Results of the racing are posted elsewhere in the Register, but we also need to mention the social event of the Regatta enjoyed by many of our membership which featured a traditional lobster bake served by by Chef George and the fabulous Dixieland music of the Pete Collins Dixie Band. Rave reviews of this group already are calling for a repeat performance next summer.
Tuesday night, the music theme continued with the duo guitars of Bruce Cameron at the, now traditional, prime rib repast.
Last night was the Tennis Social and today you perhaps saw the annual Junior Program Pirates Day extravaganza. Tonight we have appetizers to go with the cocktails which have been prepared by the “Back Narrows Gang” directed by Mary Lou Newstead.
Friday night, PC Andy Matthews was the winner of the $300 dining credit but alas he was not present so this week the prize will be $350 … you must be present to win. There is no Sunday supper because the Junior Program is having its annual awards night.
The annual dinner dance is coming up on August 17 and it is billed as an Island Evening. Music will be by the Delta Knights Band and dinner will be by Chef George and his staff. Reservations as always a must as this will be a sold out event for sure.
