First Friday energy was evident in and around Boothbay Harbor art galleries July 7! Participating in this month’s event were Gold/Smith Gallery, Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Gleason Fine Art, Studio 53, and Joy to the Wind Gallery with new shows to lure art lovers in, and wine and conversation with the artists to keep them there for a spell. 113 boats gather for SYC’s centennial
Southport Yacht Club (SYC) celebrated its centennial on Friday, July 7, when over 100 boats assembled on the Sheepscot River. Cedarbush nun 6 was the meeting place for boats of all make – sail, motor, dinghy, canoe and kayak – to show up to help SYC reach its goal of a 100-boat gathering in honor of the club’s 100th year of operation. ‘Grease’ movie musical and sing-along at The Waldo

Lewis Twins to reminiscence about their years as bridge tenders
Twin brothers Dwight and Duane Lewis tended the Southport Bridge for a combined ninety years, their father Norman tended the bridge for 42 years, and their sister Ruth for 10 years. The brothers also tended the South Bristol and Trevett bridges.
