The Ramblers improved to 12-0 while the Seahawks dropped to 4-8 on the season. The visitors scored first on a goal by Gracelyn Folsom at 12:01 of the first quarter. Wagner’s goals gave the Ramblers a 3-0 lead going into halftime. BRHS field hockey Boothbay loses at Lisbon, 1-0 On a wet field in Lisbon Oct. 14, the Boothbay Region Seahawks lost their second straight game, 1-0, to the Greyhounds. The loss dropped Boothbay’s record to 4-7 and the Seahawks dropped in the Class C South standings from sixth to eighth. Lisbon improved to 6-4-1 and are seeded seventh. The lone goal was scored in the second quarter by freshman Julia Quagliaroli. Today, Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 3:30 p.m., the Seahawks will host Winthrop/Maranacook, the top seed in Class C South at 11-0. The Seahawks are in fourth place in eight-man football Small Conference standings and host No. 2 Spruce Mountain (5-1) at Sherman Field at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18. Girls win, boys place second at XC regular season finale The Boothbay Region High School cross country team maintained its winning pace through the final meet of the regular season Oct. 11 at Lisbon. Karen Higgins won the girls event and Laura Chapman took second, as they led the girls team to first place. The boys team placed second. The girls team won with a 23:16-minute average and 21 points. The boys had 54 points and a 20:20 average, while the Lisbon High School boys won with 41 points and a 19:41 average. BRHS field hockey Cougars down Seahawks, 4-0 The Dirigo Cougars utilized their team speed and ball-handling skills to shut out the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 4-0, at Perkins Field, BRHS on Friday, Oct. 11. The Cougars won their sixth straight game and improved to 9-2 on the season. Dirigo is seeded third in Class C North. The Seahawks, who had won two straight going into the game, dropped to 4-6 on the season and are seeded sixth in Class C South. BRHS field hockey Seahawks upset Spruce Mountain, 3-2 A back-and-forth game ended with a second straight victory for the Boothbay Region High School field hockey team, as they held off the Spruce Mountain Phoenix in the final quarter to win, 3-2, in Jay on Oct. 9. The victory improved Boothbay’s record to 4-5 while the Phoenix fell to 7-4. Going into the game, Boothbay was in eighth place in Class C South while Spruce Mountain was in third place. The Seahawks’ win boosted their seeding to sixth place in the division. BRHS Sailing Club Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club The Boothbay Region High School Sailing Club is off to a great start. The fall weather has really cooperated, providing great conditions in which to sail and race. With young sailors from the Boothbay Region, Edgecomb, Lincoln Academy, Bremen, and other locations, there is a strong mix of kids participating. Sailing experience is not a prerequisite to participate and all students who meet their school’s eligibility requirements are welcome. Wiscasset Speedway sends off 2024 race season with annual Fall Fury event After six months of racing excitement, Wiscasset Speedway bid adieu to their 2024 race season on Saturday with their annual Fall Fury event. This year’s program included the Wicked Good Vintage Racers, the Ladies Acceleration Tour and a 150-lap Enduro. BRHS field hockey Seahawks win in OT, 2-1, over Oak Hill Freshman Moriah Smith put a penalty stroke past goalie Ella Martin with 26.5 seconds to play in the extra eight-minute overtime period to give the Boothbay Region High School field hockey team a 2-1 victory at home over the Oak Hill Raiders on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The penalty was called against Oak Hill when junior Tatum French was tripped in the scoring arc as she had an open lane to the goal during the 7-on-7 matchup. Smith’s winning goal made it into the net to the goalie’s left side. Higgins in top 10 at Maine's largest XC race Over 1,550 runners hailing from Nova Scotia to Rhode Island gathered Oct. 5 to compete in the state’s largest cross-country race, the Festival of Champions in Belfast. Seahawk star Karen Higgins again made strides with a top 10 finish under 20 minutes. The performance helped the girls team take its best finish for the race in school history, according to coach Nick Scott. BRHS field hockey Dirigo shuts out Boothbay The Boothbay Region Seahawk field hockey team dropped to 2-5 on the season with a 6-0 loss to the Dirigo Cougars in Dixfield on Monday, Sept. 30.Scoring goals for Dirigo were Mackenzie Woods (2), Grace Averill, Emily Woods, Madisyn Bradeen and Zoey Bordeau.The Cougars improved to 5-2 with the win.At press time, Boothbay's Oct. 2 game at home vs. Lisbon, was reschedule for Saturday, Oct. 12 at noon. BRHS football schedule change The Boothbay Region High School football team's game at Washington Academy has been rescheduled from Friday, Oct. 25 to Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at the East Machias school, according to BRHS Athletic Director, Allan Crocker. Boys five points short of win Seahawks girls dominate UMA cross-country meet Boothbay Region High School made a strong impression at UMaine Augusta during its mid-season cross country race Sept. 27. The girls won their team event by a wide margin, the boys team placed second barely behind the winners, and Karen Higgins again was the top female runner. Overall, around 80 boys and 50 girls from eight schools competed in the meet, representing the entire conference. Josh St. Clair wins 2nd consecutive Strictly Shootout at Wiscasset Speedway Wiscasset Speedway closed out their 2024 points season on Saturday and celebrated by hosting their biggest Strictly Street race of the year; the Strictly Shootout presented by Thayer’s Automotive. With a guaranteed $600 winner’s payout and thousands of dollars of contingency prizes on the line, 40 drivers showed up to shoot their shot at making it into the big dance. Seahawks overwhelm Mt. View in 8-man football The Mt. View Mustangs and Boothbay Seahawks entered week four of Maine's Small Conference 8-man football league both in search of their first victories. It didn't take long before Boothbay emerged from the winless ranks to grab a 70-0 victory at Sherman Field. Little Seahawks' pep rally at Brady's Sunday afternoon. Sept 29 greeted the Little Seahawks with a beautiful afternoon at Brady's as Pier One Pizza assisted in hosting the third annual pep rally for all the players.
