Since then, this large sound acoustic guitar grew in popularity, and is still much sought after today. Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Curt Cobain and Lennon and McCartney are but a few of the musicians who have played a Martin dreadnought. Boothbay Cornhole Classic raises $70K for Special Olympics Maine
The 4th annual Boothbay Cornhole Classic (BCC) raised $70,000 for Special Olympics Maine (SOM) and Unified Championship Club (UCC) through Bath YMCA on Sunday, Sept. 8. “This is the biggest turnout since the event started,” said Sawyer Boulette, incoming president of the BCC event committee. In July, the 38th sculpture on the Boothbay Region Sculpture Trail/Sculpture Boothbay was installed at Kerr+Jones Gallery in East Boothbay. Trail board members and sculptors Bill Royall, Andreas von Huene and Joseph DiMauro, with the artist Chris Lewis, installed the white marble sculpture “Seed.”

Library Ocean Day provides splash of education, fun
There was a little surf on turf as Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library held its second Ocean Day on the lawn Aug. 13. Families gathered to learn about marine life with hands-on activities and chats with volunteers from around the coast.

It was a hot summer day Aug. 11, perfect for a Children’s Day celebration with a giant waterslide, at Boothbay Railway Village Museum, where 452 kids and parents spent the better part of the day entertained.

25th annual Coastal Maine Antiques Show now in Waldoboro
The Maine Antiques Dealers Association (MADA) is holding its 25th annual Maine Coastal Antiques Show on Wednesday, Aug. 14 in a new location at Medomak Middle School, 318 Manktown Road, Waldoboro

Still room for more cool vehicles
The OBD Williams-Fossett Vintage Car Show, now in its 11th year, has changed locations over the years for differing reasons.
The annual show was welcomed in its first year by the Bristol Consolidated School with only 11 participating vehicles, then moved to Fort William Henry, relocated to the former Harbor Room restaurant lot due to a restrictive culture at the park, then invited back to the school by principal Jennifer Ribeiro in 2023 with more than 40 cool vehicles doing the show… Read more
Fire department’s barbecue draws dozens
A bright, sunny day provided for a successful fundraising event for Boothbay Harbor Fire Department on Saturday, July 27 at Sherman Field, Boothbay Region High School.
The department held a three-hour barbecue with burgers, chicken, potato chips, cole slaw and more, and activities included a dunk tank, face painting, a bounce house, raffle, and music provided by a three-piece band.

Lobster rolls, a cookie walk, and fellowship: Who could ask for more?
The annual United Methodist Church (UMC) Country Fair and Lobster Roll Luncheon and Cookie Walk returned to its original in-person format this year. Held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event drew a steady stream of people to Southport Town Hall July 17. For those coming to the luncheon with friends or family who didn’t think lobster was “all that,” a hot dog lunch was served with a bag of potato chips and homemade cupcake with ice tea or lemonade.

The Boothbay In Bloom Summer Fair, held on Boothbay Common July 13 by Boothbay Region Garden Club, featured Club shops and region organizations offering information and fun for all ages.

If it’s mid-July at Boothbay Railway Village, antique cars from around the state will be motoring there. This year, BRV’s 60th anniversary year, the Antique Auto Show was July 13. About 40 members of Maine Obsolete Auto League (MOALS) drove their treasured, vintage vehicles to 586 Wiscasset Road.

Fifty years ago, in 1974, Jean Armour Hunt had a vision. She was a popular artist and had traveled the United States to attend art shows in small towns that drew big crowds. BCA Fourth of July event celebrates America’s 248th birthday
It started with an idea to help the community. Boothbay Civic Association’s first project was purchasing land and building a new municipal building.
