Caron, Clarke and DiMauro named McDonald's all-stars
Boothbay Region High School Lady Seahawks Sarah Caron and Alex Clarke and Seahawk Anthony DiMauro were chosen to participate at the 25th annual Maine McDonald's Senior All-Star Basketball Games at Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 9. The All-Stars were selected based upon ballot returns on a statewide high school basketball coaches’ vote conducted by Maine Association of Basketball Coaches in January.
Caron and Clarke were key components on the 2012-2013 Lady Seahawks basketball team which reached the semifinals of the Western Maine Class C tournament. The Lady Seahawks finished the season with a 17-3 record, one of the best records in the program in several years, after losing February 21 to Waynflete for the second straight year in Augusta.
The Lady Seahawks will be members of the West Class C/D squad which will be coached by Madison's Al Veneziano and Richmond's Molly Bishop. The West will face the East All-Stars at 2:30 p.m. on March 9.
DiMauro, the newest member of the Seahawks 1,000-point club, is the point guard for the Seahawks (20-1) who will play Penquis (20-1) for the Class C state championship on Saturday, March 2.
Seahawk Coach I. J. Pinkham and Valley Coach Wade Morrill will coach the West team which will face the East All-Stars at 9:15 a.m. on March 9.
Net proceeds from the games, which also features teams from Classes A and B, the state foul shooting contest, and slam dunk and 3-point shooting contests, benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine.
Admission will be $8 for adults and $5 for children.
