Music Doing Good tempts the palate with Alphabet Soup
Music Doing Good will cook up a benefit concert for the Growing Greens Youth Gardening Program at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens on Friday, July 20, at 7 p.m.
A cocktail reception will kick off Alphabet Soup at 6 p.m.
Growing Greens is a partnership between Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the Boothbay Region YMCA for area residents in grades three through seven interested in learning about agriculture and commerce. Tickets are $15 and available on the Botanical Gardens website or by calling 633-4333, ext.101.
Alphabet Soup is a unique concert event that is sure to satisfy all musical tastes, serving up diverse musical genres. The concert features Music Doing Good core artists and aspiring local talent from national award-winning Y-Arts, spiced up with performances by special guests TV/film actor Ronny Cox and Houston-based singer/songwriter Bill Ward.
Each Music Doing Good (formerly Divas World Productions) concert is created around a central theme and turns music into money in support of worthy nonprofits working in health, music, education and children’s charities. It is the goal of the organization to cultivate the next generation of “micro-philanthropists,” who by attending a Music Doing Good concert can give back to their community.
As part of the Growing Greens Youth Gardening Program, students keep their hands dirty and their minds active, participating in gardening and nature activities, including working in the children’s garden, starting seeds in the greenhouse, transplanting plants, growing/selling herbs and vegetables, and developing an edible product to sell.
