Seahawks claim personal bests for Medomak course
The Seahawks cross country teams once again performed well at the Medomak Valley High School meet Aug. 31. Nearly all racers, boys and girls alike, showed serious improvement in finishing times from the same race one year ago.
Finishing in 11th place overall, Graham Harris was the first Seahawk to cross the finish line. His time was 19:05, a second away from besting last year’s finish time by four minutes. Next was Fox Elder who finished 14th in 19:17, nearly two minutes better than last year and a lifetime personal record. Mason Erhard finshed 17th in 19:44 – 23 seconds better than last year – and Ryan Russell finished 18th in 20:38, 1:22 better than last year. Will Labrecque finished 23rd in 21:48 and Nathan Chatterton came in 25th in 22:03. Quinn Ranta came in 29th in 23:17, 47 seconds better than last year. Newcomers Lucas Hardwick and Gavin Carleson placed 30th and 33rd with times of 23:32 and 25:33.
Faith and Glory Blethen placed first and second overall in their race with times of 20:46 and 21:48. Both beat last year’s times by a large margin – Faith by 1:04 and Glory by 2:16.
Delly Clarkson placed 19th shaving 1:18 off last year with a time of 28:36 and newcomer Grace Campbell finished her first 5k in 21st place in 28:47.
Coach Nick Scott said the next race on Wednesday, Sept. 5 would be at Hall-Dale High School. “Because this is a course that we'll compete on in the post season, it is also an opportunity for (athletes) to make either the All Seahawk and/or the All Class lists.”
