Boothbay football trounces Telstar for first win, 37-12
In Bethel, the stat sheet showed a tough contest between Boothbay and Telstar in a Class E football contest. The Seahawks narrowly outgained Telstar 326 yards to 320. But on the scoreboard, it was a different story. The Seahawks scored six touchdowns en route to a 37-12 victory.
Boothbay is 1-2. Telstar is now 0-3. Boothbay took an early first quarter lead with a defensive score on a Michael Cusamano 56-yard fumble recovery. Telstar pulled even with a second quarter seven-yard rush, but after that it was all Boothbay. The Seahawks outscored Telstar 31-6. Boothbay had a big offensive game from Wingback Michael Hollowell who rushed six times for 149 yards. He rushed for two touchdowns in the second quarter. The first was for 28 yards and the second went for 90 yards putting Boothbay ahead 18-6.
In the second half, Boothbay quarterback Hunter Crocker scored two touchdowns of his own and threw for another. Crocker scored on a one-yard keeper in the third quarter. Crocker returned a Telstar punt 33 yards for another score. With the Seahawks leading 30-6, Telstar scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass. Boothbay closed out the scoring with a 56-yard pass from Crocker to Hollowell.
Boothbay hosts John Bapst of Bangor at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at Sherman Field. Class C John Bapst has lost all three games this season.
