Boothbay defeats Dirigo
Led by Steve Reny with 18 points and Ben Pearce with 17, the Boothbay Region Seahawks boys varsity basketball team improved to 4-0 with a 58-46 win over the Dirigo Cougars at Dixfield Tuesday night.
The Cougars got off to a quick start with two threes early and led 12-10 after one period. Boothbay picked up the defensive intensity in the second period behind the outstanding performance of Mike Hollowell on the Dirigo point guard and led 29-20 at the half. Reny scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half.
The Seahawks struggled with foul trouble the entire game, which enabled Dirigo to go 10 for 15 from the line while the Seahawks were 1 for 2.
Pearce had a career game for the Seahawks with seven rebounds to go along with his 17 points.
Jeremy St. Germaine led the Cougars with 24 points.
Boothbay will next host Richmond on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. No junior varsity game is scheduled.
