Seahawks indoor track starts season on high notes
The Seahawks boys and girls teams opened the indoor track season with a full meet full of broken records and firsts. Coach Nick Scott praised the athletes for a stellar first regular season meet and all around great individual performances.
“Not only was this the first meet of the regular season, but for Fox Elder, Mason Erhard, Nathan Chatterton, and Ryan Russell it was their first track meet ever,” said Scott.
Gerald Gagne set two new school records – one in the 55 meter dash for which he placed sixth in a time of 7.53 seconds and the other for the 200 meter dash for which he placed 10th in a time of 27.63 seconds. Will Perkins placed first in the two-mile run with a record setting time of 10:47. Perkins also matched his previous best of 5’8” in the high jump placing third overall.
Elder and Erhard both competed in the 800 meter run. Elder placed sixth in 2:22 and Erhard 10th in 2:31.
Chatterton and Russell raced in the mile-run. They raced nearly neck and neck crossing the finish line. Chatterton placed 13th in 5:42 and Russell, 15th in 5:47.
Zach Rollins placed sixth in shot put with a throw of 28’1.25”, three inches better than his debut throw.
Kate Wickline placed third in the mile-run in 6:29 and Jesslyn Wilder placed 12th in the 800 meter run in 3:36.
“Congratulations to all who competed … at our first regular season meet of the year,” said Scott. “It was an exciting night of track and field with lots of great stuff happening.”
