Seahawks edge Lisbon
Sophomore Ben Pearce scored 20 points to lead the Boothbay Region High School boys basketball team to a 63-47 at Lisbon Wednesday night.
Boothbay held a five-point lead after one period, but Lisbon pulled to within one, 30-29, at the half. The Seahawks came out aggressively in the third period and led 51-40.
Pearce was joined in double figures by Steve Reny with 18 and Hunter Crocker added 13. Pearce was the leading rebounder with 11.
D. J. Douglass, who kept the Greyhounds in the game, was Lisbon’s leading scorer with 30 points.
“Ben Pearce was a force in the game tonight. He had his best game of the season,” said Coach I.J. Pinkham via email. “He shot the ball well and was very effective on the boards. As a team, we struggled against the Lisbon zone early, mostly because of our impatience."
The Seahawks stand 12-4 on the season and Lisbon dropped to 9-6.
Boothbay will face Mt. Abram at home tonight, Jan. 31.
