Seahawks nip Cobras, corral Roadrunners
The Boothbay Region High School girls varsity basketball team went 2-0 this week, escaping North Anson with a one-point win over Carrabec on Dec. 13 and easily defeating Mt. Abram at home Dec. 11.
At Carrabec, the low-scoring game saw the Seahawks leading 9-4 after one quarter and 21-17 at the half. The Cobras kept pace with Boothbay in the second half but the Seahawks held on for the victory and improved to 3-1 on the season.
Glory Blethen led Boothbay with 16 points, followed by Chloe Arsenault with eight and Kylie Brown with six.
Cheyenne Cahill, with 12 points, led Carrabec while Sarah Olson added 11 points.
Boothbay 39 Mt. Abram 12
After losing at Mt. Valley last week, the Seahawks got back on the winning track with a 39-12 win over the Mt. Abram Roadrunners Dec. 11 at Porter Memorial Gymnasium.
The Seahawks held the visitors to just one free throw in the middle two quarters to improve to 2-1 on the young season. Mt. Abram fell to 1-2.
Arsenault led Boothbay’s balanced scoring attack with eight points, followed by Blethen with seven. Brown and freshman forward Kathryn Hibbard each scored six.
Camryn Wahl led the Roadrunners with five points.
