Seahawks take down Falcons 63-53
On Senior Night and the final regular season home game, the Boothbay Region Seahawks made a second-half comeback to defeat the visiting Mountain Valley Falcons, 63-53, at Porter Memorial Gymnasium Friday, Jan. 31.
Trailing 33-27 at the half, thanks to eight three pointers by the Falcons, the Seahawks stepped up their defensive pressure and rebounding to outscore Mt. Valley, 36-20 in the second half.
The win improved Boothbay’s record to 13-4 while Mt. Valley dropped to 8-9. The Seahawks defeated the Falcons earlier in the season in Rumford, 65-53. As of Friday night, Boothbay was seeded third in Class C South while Mt. Valley was seeded fifth in Class B South.
Senior Hunter Crocker led Boothbay with 20 points. Junior Ben Pearce followed with 16, senior Nick Morley added 13 and junior Kaeden Davis had 11.
Junior E.J. Weston led Mt. Valley with 16 points, followed by freshman Airick Richard with 15 and junior Ethan Casey with 11.
Boothbay will complete its regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at Lisbon.
