With Carrabec win, boys tennis now 7-1
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks boys tennis team has moved up to second place in the Western Class C Heal point standings. For a team that has not made it to the playoffs at all in recent memory, this is quite an achievement.
On May 8 at home, the Seahawks made quick work of the Carrabec team, winning all games with relative ease and the overall match, 5-0.
At first singles freshman Nick Gorey won 10-1 against Carrol Handley. Senior Sam Schwehm defeated Avery Bouche, 10-1, in second singles and in third singles, senior Brady Duncan beat Seth Burns, 10-6.
In doubles, the first doubles team of junior Ethan Walker and freshman Dan Drummond easily defeated Adam Poulin and Damian Green, 10-2. In second doubles, junior Ben Betts and freshman Ray Perry won 10-6 again Trevor Edes and Steven Handey.
The Seahawks travel to Hall-Dale on Friday where they will face stiff competition. Hall-Dale is currently ranked third in heal point standings and has a 6-1 record.
