Keeping Knickerbocker Lake clean
Because of concerns for water quality, the town of Boothbay and the Boothbay Region Water District are providing facilities for handling both human and pet waste at the town's access to Knickerbocker Lake off Barter's Island Road. The town installed a trash receptacle last year and plans to construct a public restroom at the site this fall. The water district will install a dog waste cleanup station so pet waste doesn't end up in the lake. Now it's up to lake users to do their part to keep Knickerbocker Lake clean for swimming, recreating, wildlife and drinking water.
