Y Dolphins get seven firsts at opening meet
The Boothbay Region YMCA Dolphin swim team managed seven first place finishes at its first meet, held at home against Long Reach Swim Club/Bath YMCA on Nov. 20.
Nathalie Wilson, 8, and Hannah Hills, 14, each won two events. Wilson won the girls 8 & under 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke. Hills won the girls 13-14 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.
Other first place finishers included: Ford Harris (10, boys 9-10 50-yard freestyle), Beatrix Recoing-Tallen (12, girls 50-yard breaststroke), and the boys 11-12 200-yard medley relay team of Aubrey Quinn (12), Miles Murray (11), Alex Hughes (11) and Carter Wilson (11).
Second place finishes were recorded by: Tatum French, 13, in the girls 13-14 200-yard freestyle; Kayla Watts, 9, in the girls 9-10 50-yard freestyle; Byran Hills, 10, in the boys 50-yard freestyle; Ella Watts, 13, in the girls 13-14 50-yard freestyle; Shephard Griffith, 7, in the boys 8 & under 25-yard backstroke; Kameron Fowlie, 9, in the boys 50-yard breaststroke; and the boys 9-10 200-yard medley relay team of Myer Phelps (10), Kameron Fowlie (9), Byran Hills (10) and Ben Hodgdon (9).
Long Reach, with nearly triple the competitors Boothbay had, easily won the meet, 742-187.
Other Dolphins competing and scoring points were Wyatt Lassen, Allison Smart, Suzie Edwards, Trey Tibbetts, Rath Schoenthal, Lucie Hollon, Eve Pangburn, Avery Fowlie, Keegan Murray, Arabella Hodgdon, Emma Doucette, Jackie Branch, Olivia Carlson, Casey Phelps, Julia Deliso, Adrian Quinn, Shea Fritz and Morganne Phelps.
Boothbay’s next meet is also at home on Saturday, Dec. 11 with the start time to be announced.
