Freeman scores 38 in Falcons’ win over Seahawks
Mountain Valley’s Autumn Freeman had one of the best games ever played by an opponent at Porter Memorial Gymnasium Thursday, Dec. 16 as the 5’3” senior guard poured in 38 points to lead the Falcons to a 59-38 win over the Boothbay Region Seahawks.
Freeman had five three-pointers in the first quarter (six overall) and 28 points in the first half as the visitors held a comfortable 41-18 lead going into the break.
Boothbay stepped up its defense in the third quarter, holding Mountain Valley to only six points, but the deficit was too much to overcome in the Seahawks’ effort for their first win (0-2). Boothbay only had seven players suited up for the game.
Senior center Jaelyn Crocker again led Boothbay in scoring with 22 points, followed by Maddie Orchard with six and Margaret Sledge with four.
Brooke Brown and Maisy Chase each had four points for Mountain Valley.
Boothbay is next scheduled to play at Buckfield on Saturday at 10 a.m. Boothbay’s next home game is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. against Mt. Abram.
