Morse-Boothbay boys lacrosse wins opener
The Morse-Boothbay boys lacrosse team won its opening game of the season, 12-7, over Erskine Academy on Friday, April 15.
Boothbay middie Lucas Hardwick had 3 goals, 2 assists and 4 GBs (A loose ball picked up with the crosse from the ground). Also scoring for 1-0 team were Morse middie Owen Tucker (3 goals, 3 assists), Morse attackman Cayden Green (3 goals, 3 assists and 5 GBs), Morse attackman Sam Prager (3 goals), and Boothbay attackman Drew Meader (1 goal and 1 assist).
Goalie Michael Martin made 16 saves on 21 shots on goal.
“With a first time keeper, Michael Martin was my showcase with a terrific game,” said coach Jay Paulson. J.V. goalie Lockhan Aldrigh faced three shots and had one save.
“Our offense is still gelling, but shows some promise for the season. We are a young squad. I felt like we have the potential to do more. Our off ball is stepping up. There is still much to work on, but all is good,” said Paulson.
The team’s next game will be at home vs. Brewer on Friday.
